Technical Indexes = IHS - go to the IHS siteIt is important that you do not confuse IHS as a separate company or competitor to Technical Indexes. We are in fact the same company and have been for over forty years, evolving from 'Technical Indexes' in 1964 to 'IHS' as we are known throughout the world today.

Technical Indexes (ti) based in Bracknell, Berkshire, UK was founded in 1964, providing an information service to designers & engineers. In 1971 Technical Indexes became the first company of its type to sell British Standards on microfilm. Then in 1977 TBG purchased ti, which subsequently formed part of the IHS Group of Companies, based in Denver, Colorado, USA.

1985 saw Technical Indexes launch the first regulatory service for the construction
industry
, in partnership with the Royal Institute of British Architects. Three years later in 1988, the Rapidoc retail division was set up to provide a paper copy document supply service.

In 1991, Technical Indexes was the first company of its type to be registered to BS EN ISO 9002 by BSI Quality Assurance. And then in 1992 Technical Indexes was again the first of its type to independently produce a full text British Standards service on CD-ROM.

Two Years later in 1994, ti launched its Occupational Health & Safety Information
Service
with free text searches and facsimile images. An important joint venture was formed with NHS Estates in 1996 to offer Technical Guidance and other documents on CD-ROM.

1999 saw the launch of ti's online 'one stop shop' services including British Standards Online and Network Rail products. Most importantly was the launch of www.tionestop.com. Tionestop was the gateway or portal to access to the entire portfolio  of Technical Indexes products for the future of IHS.

The year 2000 saw the launch of the info4 products. Also launched were Specify-it and  Engineer-it, both important vendor products for the UK. As well as this, ti also formed a close partnership with LACORS.

In 2003, Technical Indexes partnered with Emap Construct and launched Key4architects to the construction industry. , 2003 was also the beginning of an exciting transition of the corporate brand structure & design. The company changed  from ti or Technical Indexes to IHS Technical Indexes (IHSti) and its corporate website changed from www.tionestop.com (tionestop) to www.ihsti.com.

As part of our worldwide corporate branding strategy, Technical Indexes in the UK is now referred to as IHS.
