IHS and BSRIA Sign New Sole Partnering Agreement

LONDON and ENGLEWOOD, Colorado – 20 June 2007 – IHS, a global provider of critical technical information and decision-support tools including the UK’s leading online service for construction professionals – The Construction Information Service (CIS) – announced today that the company has signed a sole partnership agreement with BSRIA - the built environment experts.  This partnership brings together all those involved in construction and building services to exchange knowledge and experience across all disciplines. The collaboration will also promote excellence in the built environment and encourage innovation in design and construction.

The partnership grants IHS the sole rights to include new BSRIA material in The Construction Information Service (CIS), a unique knowledge tool that delivers key technical information critical to all construction projects in one easy-to-use on-line package. Developed by IHS and NBS, The Construction Information Service (CIS) provides instant full-text access to current regulations, standards, technical advice and a vast array of related news and briefings. Fully searchable, intelligently classified and constantly updated, it is an indispensable source of key information, tailored to meet your real needs.

“We are delighted to have established a sole partnership with BSRIA.  This new partnership will help us develop the services we provide the built environment sector, from client to consultant, manufacturer to contractor,” said Andrew Sadler-Smith, Senior Vice President for IHS Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). “BSRIA’s expertise and guidance will mean that we can enhance The Construction Information Service (CIS) to meet the construction market’s requirements.”

This BSRIA partnership, along with other recently signed sole partnerships including SCI, TRL, IStructE, CIRIA, CIOB and the Concrete Society, in addition to the 2006 acquisition of CRC, the exclusive owners of the BRE republishing rights, further establishes The Construction Information Service (CIS) as THE source of critical information and insight across all disciplines in the construction industry.

Andrew Eastwell, chief executive of BSRIA, welcomed the agreement and added, “This new partnership with IHS will help us fund new research for much needed new documents and open up possibilities for wider collaboration in the industry on different activities such as distance learning.”
