TRADA Publishes Wood Information Sheet
August 28, 2007 // Published as a news service by IHS
TRADA, in association with U.K. Timber Frame Association (UKTFA), produced a wood information sheet on sole plates, the first timber frame components installed on-site and an element in a timber framed building.
The information sheet provides advice on correctly installing the sole plates so that the timber frame structure fits together quickly, tightly and correctly.
In addition, it features a breakdown of the key tasks relating to sole plate design and installation for each member of the construction team.
According to TRADA, sole plates installation has a direct effect on the building's service life, line, level and plumb, and contributes to the speed of construction.
This publication is available free of charge for TRADA members and for £12 for non-members to download from the TRADA web site at http://www.trada.co.uk/techinfo/asset/view/1017/.
All registered users of the TRADA web site can also view the information sheet in html format in the technical library at http://www.trada.co.uk/techinfo/asset/send/1016/content/wis1-48/index.html.
